Welcome to our first FCC Family Prayer Blog. We are so glad that you have chosen to join us on this journey. Learning to pray together as a family is one of the most important things we can learn to do as Christian parents. God has trusted this next generation to us to teach them to know Him, that He is real and that and He wants to use them to do great things.
The purpose of this blog is to encourage our families to develop a daily prayer time together, and to see God answer those prayers. As your children begin to see that God will answer their prayers, it will strengthen their faith and their relationship with Him.
Where do we begin? I see three different things we can do to begin:
First. It starts by a determined decision to do it. This should come from a family meeting where you explain what you are going to do and why. This will include all of you in the decisions of what to pray for and will help keep one another accountable for following through.
Second. You should agree on the best time for you to meet each day. It is better to do a short time consistently than a longer time sporadically. Ten minutes is plenty of time. You don’t want to turn it into a worship service that lasts an hour. Aim everything at your children’s level.
Third. Start with a short scripture. Then, decide on what you are going to pray for. Include your children in the decision and in the prayers. You may be surprised what you hear come out of them.
I am confident that God will meet you in your effort.
Finally, this blog is not just for me to encourage you, but to provide a place where you can encourage each other and share your successes, failures and thoughts. We will post something at the end of each week.
I am so excited about what we are going to see happen out of this. We have long needed a movement of prayer at FCC, and what better way for it to happen than through our families.
Blessings, Pastor John and Anita
