Why pray as a family?

As you determine to bring you family together to pray, you will in all likelihood find obstacles. I know that we have. It will require some effort and some serious determination. Is it worth the effort? YES IT IS.

There are wonderful and lasting benefits that you will get by learning to pray together as a family.

1. Praying together develops a closeness more than any other thing we can do together.

Spending time together, having fun and family trips are great ways to create a strong family bond. But when you pray together, you are touching each other at the level of your spirit.

2. Our children learn from us as they experience how we pray.

This may sound threatening to you if you are not too confident in your own prayer life. However, while they watch you learn that prayer is simply a conversation with a loving God who is listening, they also learn that they can be real with Him. Children learn as they see us learn how to grow.

3. You will all develop confidence as you see your prayers answered.

There is much greater power in praying together as a family than when we pray alone.

“Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matt 28:19-20

So, I hope you can see that it is worth the effort. Keep these benefits in mind as you walk this out together.

Also, don’t forget to post your successes, struggles and experiences so we can all share this journey together. We are here to encourage and strengthen one another.

Blessings, Pastor John and Anita
